Devlog 05 - Production Sprint 1


Introduction

Welcome to our fifth devlog!

We’ve been creating a local couch co-op game where the goal is to cook together. The catch however is that you’re an octopus and every player controls one tentacle. For various cooking tasks you’ll have to work together while the orders keep coming in. We also want to add features where you can lose lives/arms by accidentally cutting your limbs off and annoy each other by stealing items from each other.

This week is the second week of production! That means that from this week on we’ll only be working on things that will be in the game which will start taking shape over the coming weeks. 

Programming

We’ve massively reworked how holding things works, making for a much more satisfying animation and reducing the possibility of bugs coming from it. We also integrated a new slicing library, which allows for more robust fracture calculations when cutting objects.

There’s also a lot of progress on the cooking front: we have a functional timer, cooking, and ingredient containers like bowls and the pan. 

Art

This week the artists have modeled the kitchen environment and the needed props for the kitchen.

The future

For the artist next week will be all about texturing and making all props look amazing!
