Devlog 06 - Production Sprint 1


Introduction

Welcome to our sixth devlog!

We’ve been creating a local couch co-op game where the goal is to cook together. The catch however is that you’re an octopus and every player controls one tentacle. For various cooking tasks you’ll have to work together while the orders keep coming in. We also want to add features where you can lose lives/arms by accidentally cutting your limbs off and annoy each other by stealing items from each other.

This week is the third and last week of production sprint one! Next week will be the beginning of production sprint two, which again is 3 weeks of 10 hours per person.

Programming

We’ve massively improved the controls and the overall feel. Grabbing works consistently now and we are currently working on making grabbing fully bug-free with no clipping through geometry.

Further we’ve successfully addressed spawning-related bugs. Additionally, we’ve added all possible ingredients and tools to the game and added a basic but fully functioning end screen with your end score.

Art

The artists worked this week on the first textures for the kitchen, going for an anime hand drawn look. And also unwrapped and made textures for most props, which resemble the animated elements in animations. These props are cell shaded with solid colors and some lineart for accents. To bring these models and their textures to life we added accurate hitboxes and did the first lighting pass!

The future

Next week the artist will finish all texturing and make the firsts rfx.
